The lockdown has thrust us into some unhealthy habits and lazy nights, throwing our fit and organised lives in disarray. Since yoga is coming handy at this time, with the dearth of open fitness centres, why not extend the same workout to our face?! Face Yoga is a practice with worldwide acclaim for fat reduction, face sharpening and fine line removal. Just a few minutes with some face tools and working those facial muscles every day can get you a chiselled, younger-looking face. So, let’s get onto these face yoga exercises and sculpt our faces to bring out the inner Greek Goddesses in us.
The first exercise aids in double-chin fat reduction and slimming down the neck. Create half a pout, look up to the ceiling, imagine your S/O there and start blowing air kisses with your face facing upwards. Repeat this 20 times, and towards the end, you will feel a slight stretch all over your neck. That’s how you know that your face yoga exercise is working.
Double-Chin Fat Reduction Exercise
Sit with your back straight and with your feet on the ground. Make a fist of one hand and place it on top of the other in a right angle position. Sit your jaw on the fist and create pressure upwards, towards your jawline. Hold this position for 30-60 seconds. Repeat this thrice in one go and three times a week for a structured and defined jaw.
This gorgeous looking tool isn’t all beauty but has brains too. Take the indented side of the Gua Sha and fit it perfectly on your chin. Flatten it slightly. Then, with your other hand, start sculpting in an upwards direction while supporting your chin. Keep doing this by lifting your muscles upwards and then taking the lymphatic fluid downwards. Flattening the Gua Sha, take the lymphatic fluid down your collarbone to wriggle it out as the lymphatic network of your face is present on our necks. Drainage of the lymphatic toxins or the water under the eyes is essential, which is possible only through your neck.
The Pufferfish Face
The next exercise will help in the removal of fine lines on your neck, your lips, or on your face. For this, fill up your face with air. Then, place the finger pads of your right hand on your lips and blow air kisses. The air in your mouth should not come out at any point in this exercise. This is a brilliant exercise to take care of all the fine lines that come crawling over the upper lip, the chin and around the nasal area or the lips. It will also ensure that your lips are plumped up naturally.
The Collagen Roller
The collagen roller enables reduction of fine lines on your face. You can use this tool in combination with your Jade Roller, which is for muscle sculpting or muscle stimulation. With the jade roller, massage your muscles in the upwards direction. Once you roll it your face area, drag the jade roller to your collarbones and drain out the lymphatic toxins.
Then, take the collagen roller which because of its non-invasive nature can be used very close to the eyes. You can roll it slightly over the crow’s-feet and the eyelids where fine lines usually show up. Then, with a gentle touch, roll it vertically and horizontally all over your forehead. Do this for about 1-2 minutes after your night cream or your day cream application, and you’ll notice that your fine lines are suddenly starting to diminish. Keep rolling, keep slayin’ ladies!
