Local gym adds 3 locations amid COVID-19 challenges

Gym leaders said the additions created 300 jobs at the gyms and even more through the construction.”We wanted to continue to follow through on our commitment and our mission to extend our reach throughout New Mexico,” Lamar said.Gyms were given the green light to reopen back in June and since then Defined has seen new gym memberships increase.”We’re in a health crisis and there are many things through health and fitness that are able to mitigate some of those underlying health issues,” Lamar said.A large number of current members are also renewing.”We saw a lot of our members come back to us in June when we first reopened because we came out first really early on proactively with our health standards,” Lamar said.Lamar said 2020 has been the largest year of growth in 33 years and they are getting ready for more.”We’re going to continue to look across New Mexico. Our roots are here, for the last three decades, so we still want to reach more of our local communities before we look out of state,” Lamar said.Gym officials said they are looking at another location in southern Rio Rancho and are looking to start construction plans in the next few months.
